The City of Mequon is searching for a Building Inspector
A full-time Building Inspector position performs skilled inspection work to ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal codes. The inspector will conduct inspections in the following disciplines, UDC Building, Electric, HVAC, and Plumbing plus Commercial Building. Although some new or difficult situations are referred to a superior, an employee in this position must regularly exercise technical judgment, interpretation, and discretion based on familiarity with the various regulations and ordinances which they are responsible for enforcing. During office hours, the inspector will assist contractors, homeowners, and others at the counter and on the phone. An Inspector is also expected to occasionally attend Architectural Board and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings to provide adequate information to enable these boards to make sound decisions.
Experience in construction, heating, electrical and/or plumbing trades, completion of course work at an accredited college or university in the areas of building construction, engineering or related field or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Interested candidates should have the following certifications:
UDC-Construction Inspector, UDC-Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Inspector, Certified UDC-Electrical Inspector, Certified UDC-Plumbing Inspector, Certified State Commercial Building Inspector.

BUILDING INSPECTOR – City of Superior
The City of Superior, WI is seeking a Building Inspector. An Inspector performs residential and/or commercial building inspection activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector. The Inspector is a multi-classification position (I, II, III) with responsibilities and compensation commensurate with State of Wisconsin Certification level and experience.
The City is currently accepting applications at all three Inspector levels.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (37.5 hours/week) or as needed otherwise.
Wages: Depending on qualifications/certifications at the time of hire:
Certified Inspector I: $21.16 – $26.45/hour (have no certifications)
Certified Inspector II: $22.96 – $28.70/hour (have two UDC certifications)
Certified Inspector III: $24.77 – $30.96/hour (have one commercial certification+typically two UDC certifications)
Pay plan is made up of 10 wage steps at each level. Employees move to the next step in the pay plan on their anniversary date of hire with the City if meeting expectations of their position. Employees move up pay plan levels by obtaining certifications required for each level.
