This position is responsible for enforcing all codes, laws, rules and regulations as related to municipal ordinances and state building codes. Additional requirements of the position include controlling and ensuring proper and safe building construction, and inspection of all existing buildings, structures, and components thereof to ensure they are maintained in a safe manner. The candidate shall possess Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services credentials in at least one of the following categories, with a willingness to obtain additional credentials in the remaining areas in a reasonable period of time: UDC-Construction, UDC-Electrical, UDC-Plumbing, UDC-HVAC, Commercial Building, Commercial Electrical, and Commercial Plumbing. A background or knowledge of zoning is a plus.
Salary range for the position is $62,000-80,000 based upon qualifications and licensure.

• 3-5 Years of experience in municipal code inspections
• High School or Equivalent

BUILDING INSPECTOR – City of Superior
The City of Superior, WI is seeking a Building Inspector. An Inspector performs residential and/or commercial building inspection activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector. The Inspector is a multi-classification position (I, II, III) with responsibilities and compensation commensurate with State of Wisconsin Certification level and experience.
The City is currently accepting applications at all three Inspector levels.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (37.5 hours/week) or as needed otherwise.
Wages: Depending on qualifications/certifications at the time of hire:
Certified Inspector I: $21.16 – $26.45/hour (have no certifications)
Certified Inspector II: $22.96 – $28.70/hour (have two UDC certifications)
Certified Inspector III: $24.77 – $30.96/hour (have one commercial certification+typically two UDC certifications)
Pay plan is made up of 10 wage steps at each level. Employees move to the next step in the pay plan on their anniversary date of hire with the City if meeting expectations of their position. Employees move up pay plan levels by obtaining certifications required for each level.
